PROJECT PUMPKIN 2024
Project Pumpkin is one of the largest student-led community events. This campus tradition brings together the Winston-Salem and Wake Forest communities to celebrate fall through trick-or-treating, entertainment, and educational activities. We partner with many local schools and agencies to bring children to the Reynolda campus and Wake Forest students serve as volunteers for themed booths, as guides for the event, and as volunteers on the buses that bring children to campus.
Support the Winston-Salem Community!
Donations for Project Pumpkin benefit the WFU Freedom School, a free summer enrichment program for children in Winston-Salem. Through a culturally diverse curriculum, Freedom School encourages a love of reading and learning, while also preventing summer reading loss. The six-week program is hosted by the Department of Education and is made possible with the help of collaborators including The Office of Civic & Community Engagement, Office of the President, and the Office of the Provost.
Give the Gift of Empowerment
The Freedom School is a national, non-profit initiative run by the Children’s Defense Fund. The Freedom School strives to enhance children's motivation to read and make them feel good about learning. Additionally, the Freedom School connects students and their families to access the right resources within the Winston-Salem community. Your support will impact the lives of local students, and empower them to excel inside and outside of the classroom.
